This is my mother’s jewelry box. It was a gift from my dad and she either received it in the late 70’s or early 80’s. I had seen a pin on Pinterest of a refurbished jewelry box and I just knew I had to give it a go.

Here’s the before.

I used a paint I had leftover from our master bed/bath makeover. I gave it about three coats, sanding in between coats.  After I was happy with the coats, I used sandpaper to distress the edges  I finished using a wax to seal it.

Here’s what the foam ring rolls look like once I ripped it out. The gold faux velvet pulled right off the foam which made it easy to cover with a different fabric.

I covered the foam rolls with black fabric. Make sure to use fray check on edges. I then used spray adhesive ( like I used on the rolls) to adhere the black felt to the bottom of the drawers and area where the necklaces hang.

My favorite part of the makeover was cutting a piece of this decorative metal sheet to fit where the glass was.

I just ❤️ how it turned out!

I’m officially addicted to refurbishing these little beauties.
